July 25, 2018 – Galt and Taggart together with Bank of Georgia Businesss hosted a meeting where Wine Industry research was presented. Major players of the sector, Bank of Georgia clients, Georgian and foreign experts attended the meeting and participated in the discussion about the indistry development. Master of Wine Lisa Granik also presented her view about the international prospects of Georgian wine and expressed her opinion in the panel discussion.
Galt and Taggart research covers the global trends of wine industry, positioning of the Georgian wine on an international market, as well as opportunities and challenges for the companies operating in the same direction. The results of the research outline the growth prospects of consumption and production. Increasing statistics of the tourism stimulate the growth of local consumption. The presentation also highlighted the share of wine indsutry in Georgian economy though employment, profit and export analytics.
The main challenges discussed in the report are low yield on the wineyards as well as relevant infrastructure, wine falsification and trade financing. Opportunties include export prospects, growing market for niche and clay jar wines and increasing local consumtpion on high quality bottled wine.
